Pied Cuckoo: The Handsome Visitor

Greetings, birds!

How was your week? We have been struggling as the monsoon season continues to play hide and seek with us. It is so hot and humid. But we remain optimistic and continue to sing our monsoon songs to please the Rain Gods. We love monsoons not only because it lowers the temperature, but also because it means it's time to meet new birds. These birds are fascinating to encounter since they fly across continents and oceans. And there is one in particular that we all watch out for, especially the ladies.

The dashing Mr. Pied Cuckoo.

Mr. Pied Cuckoo is extremely attractive with his blackish-blue coat that contrasts beautifully with his white underbelly. His tail is long and black with slight white spots. Mr. Cuckoo's hair isn't cut, so his crest has spiky ruffles that sway with his delicate movements. His dark, melancholy eyes pierce your soul. The highlight, however, is when he serenades everyone, young and old, male and female, with his shrill call. He is simply a work of art.

Unfortunately, he only comes around when it's about to rain. He is, understandably, late this year. However, because he is a drifter, we are keeping an eye out for his arrival. He moves from one place to another like a nomad. You may miss him if you are not quick enough.

We first heard him four days ago. "He appeared out of nowhere, perched on a terrace railing, and began singing", according to Ms. Crow, who was lucky enough to see him. We immediately ventured out of our nests and playing areas because we recognised his calls and wanted to see Mr. Pied Cuckoo. Some of us, including Ms. Sparrow, Ms. Myna, Ms. Dove, and the pigeons, spotted him because we were nearby. Unfortunately, he vanished before the rest could reach him. He was probably startled by the humans in the area. Mr. Pied Cuckoo, despite his dashing persona, does not mix with humans.

It was disappointing that not everyone had the opportunity to meet Mr. Pied Cuckoo. But we are relieved that he has finally arrived. His arrival frequently signals the arrival of rain, which we have all been praying for. We wished him a safe journey and hoped to see the handsome Mr. Pied Cuckoo again on his way back or next year.

Do you anticipate someone's arrival?

Keep your eyes peeled since it could happen when you least expect it. Always keep in mind that you will meet someone if you are meant to. And what better way to meet someone than by surprise?

Have a serendipitous week! 🐰🎠 #tbd🦉
